Deadly Ambush in Khan Younis
Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza after explosive strikes armored vehicle in Khan Younis, military official confirms. The blast marks one of the deadliest attacks on Israeli troops during the ongoing conflict with Hamas.
One additional soldier was seriously wounded by gunfire in the same area, the Israeli military confirmed.
Hamas Claims Responsibility
The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, announced via Telegram that its fighters ambushed Israeli troops sheltering inside a residential building. The group said it used a Yassin 105 missile, followed by another missile and heavy machine gun fire.
It remains unclear whether this attack is directly linked to the armored vehicle explosion.

Since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack, Israel has lost over 860 soldiers, including more than 400 inside Gaza. Tuesday’s incident adds to the rising death toll, highlighting the persistent danger Israeli forces face during ground operations.
Gaza Civilian Toll Passes 56,000
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that 56,077 Palestinians have been killed since the war began. More than 5,700 deaths occurred after the ceasefire collapsed on March 18, 2025.
The ministry states that over half of the dead are women and children, though it does not separate civilians from combatants.
Conflicting Numbers and Casualty Claims

Incident in East Jerusalem
Separately, Israeli police said a woman from east Jerusalem was found dead at a checkpoint from “serious penetrating injuries.” The investigation is ongoing.
East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, remains disputed. Palestinians view it as the future capital of their state, while Israel considers the city indivisible.
