Russian Drone and Missile Attacks Kill 2, Wound 13 in Ukraine
Russian drone missile attack early Tuesday, June 10, 2025, struck Ukrainian cities, killing 2 and injuring 13. The attacks took place shortly after Ukraine attacked Russian air installations on June 1 with a drone strike.
Maternity Hospital and Homes Hit in Odesa
Odesa bore the brunt of the latest Russian barrage. According to regional Gov. Oleh Kiper, a maternity hospital and several residential buildings in the city center were struck. The regional prosecutor’s office confirmed two fatalities and nine injuries in the region.
Kyiv Rocked by Drone Buzz and Explosions
In the capital city of Kyiv, four people were wounded, and fires erupted in at least four districts. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that air defense systems worked throughout the night to shoot down Russian Shahed drones. Debris from intercepted drones ignited blazes on residential roofs and warehouses.
Civilians Shelter Underground
Residents like Nina Nosivets sought safety in the city’s metro stations. “I just try not to think about all this… wait until it all passes,” she said as she comforted her infant son Levko during the attack.
Kyiv resident Krystyna Semak described grabbing a rug and fleeing to the metro at 2 a.m. in fear. Thousands joined her underground as drones buzzed overhead.
Biggest Drone Barrage of the War
Tuesday’s assault followed what Ukrainian officials called the largest drone attack in the war’s three-year span. Nearly 500 drones were launched by Moscow in retaliation for Ukraine’s recent drone strike on Russian airfields.
“Everything Blew Away” — Damage and Desperation
Victims like 25-year-old Vasyl Pesenko described the horror of hearing a drone approach before an explosion ripped through his home. “I hoped it would pass… but it flew closer and everything blew away,” he said.
No Ceasefire, Only Prisoner Swaps
While direct peace talks continue in Istanbul, their only tangible result so far has been occasional prisoner exchanges. A lasting ceasefire remains elusive as Russia escalates its campaign targeting Ukrainian infrastructure and civilians.
